Little Orbit bringing Falling Skies to Wii U

Perhaps you’ve heard of the television program Falling Skies, which has been airing on TNT since 2011. It follows a group of survivors in post-apocalyptic Boston who are desperately fighting back against hordes of alien invaders to preserve what remains of humanity.

The Falling Skiesvideo game, which is being developed by Little Orbit, will be set in this intriguing world and will feature tactical strategy RPG gameplay. The press release below promises a “never-ending list of missions”, “hundreds of character skills and equipment upgrades”, “dynamic enemy AI” and “map randomization designed to make every mission feel new and fresh.

Santa Ana, CA. – June 2, 2013 – When aliens invade the Earth, who will rise up to save humankind? Little Orbit, a worldwide video game publisher, today announced it will bring the popular TNT sci-fi drama Falling Skies to video game consoles Nintendo Wii U™, PlayStation® 3, Xbox 360® and digital downloads available on Steam, PSN® and Xbox Live® this fall. The tactical strategy RPG will be set in the tense, gritty world of the critically acclaimed series from Amblin Television.

Survival of the human race is at stake. Players will dive into a world gone wrong and command a squad of recently-rescued survivors who have been recruited into the human resistance fighting to save the planet. The team will engage in covert tactical operations against the Espheni fighting to survive against alien invaders while also rescuing and recruiting survivors to the join the 2nd Mass. With addictive strategy-based gameplay, players will be immersed into the unique story line with all their favorite heroes from the show.

“Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies,” said Matt Scott, President of Little Orbit. “We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player.”

With engaging tactical combat and an immersive story driven experience, Falling Skies will offer players a never-ending list of missions as they join the 2nd Mass and fight the alien invasion including Mechs, Skitters and Harnessed Humans. With hundreds of character skills and equipment upgrades to unlock, players can engage in tactical combat and take different approaches to achieve game-changing objectives. Falling Skies will also feature dynamic enemy AI and map randomization designed to make every mission feel new and fresh.

Produced by Amblin Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies takes place in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the years since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together to begin the difficult task of fighting back and rebuilding their lives. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency against the occupying alien force. But the battle is just getting started.
